La French Touch Conference’s Ecosystem

What a week for Jean-Baptiste Rudelle, whom we are lucky to address as one of our former guest speakers! On Wednesday, Criteo announced his return as the Chief Executive Officer of the company he co-founded in 2005. [article in French]
On Friday, the French unicorn BlablaCar revealed the acquisition of the carpool platform Less he co-founded only five months ago. Whaou! [article in English]

French Ecosystem

French group Aufeminin has been integrated into the TF1 group and is currently orienting its growth toward digital marketing. It announced the acquisition of majority stake in the Paris-based influencer marketing business Ykone. Created in 2008, Ykone has supported many large brands in the fashion, beauty and luxury industries (eg. LVMH, Clarins, Estée Lauder, L’Oréal) and aims to strengthen its international expansion, particularly in Europe thanks to Aufeminin’s support. [article in English]

French startup from Lyon Tilkee, which provides document tracking solutions raised €3.5M / $4.2M! The company is currently preparing its international development, starting with the creation of a team in Germany. [article in French]

French on-demand laundry service Lavoir Moderne raised €3M / $3.6M to accelerate its development in French provinces and in European capitals such as London, Berlin, and Lisbon. [article in French]

Paris-based startup and Y Combinator alumni Slite raised €3.7M / $4.4M for its collaborative docs service. “This product has to have a high level of expectations”, said Slite founder and CEO Christophe Pasquier. “We’re competing against Google Docs.” [article in English]

Beyond Borders: EU Ecosystem

The European Commission will boost its investments in AI by about 70% (to €1.5Bn / $1.8Bn) by 2020 with an aim to catch up with Asia and the US. [article in English]

London-based fintech startup Revolut raised €205M / $250M and became the latest European unicorn! The digital banking alternative is now valued at €1.3Bn / $1.7Bn. [article in English]

Macedonian AI startup Cognism raised €2.3M / $2.8M. With these new funds, the company developing AI marketing tools wants to enlarge its teams in Macedonia & the UK and open an office in the US. [article in English]

Beyond Borders : International

Traackr, an American IRM (Influencer Relationship Management) technology company founded by French entrepreneur Pierre-Loïc Assayag raised €7.4M / $9M. The company from which 15% of revenues are produced in France now wants to enter new markets and is thinking of setting up a team in Europe, more precisely in France.

Following French President Emmanuel Macron State Visit to the United States, Salesforce announced it is planning to invest €1.8Bn / $2.2Bn in France over 5 years through Salesforce Ventures[article in English]
